Opening my eyes, I stare at the grey underside of the overhead storage rack above me. Around me, the car I’m riding in is quiet, the sound of two ventilators and Ash’s gentle snoring occasionally joined by the screech of steel wheels on steel rails. Smiling, I let my ventilator take over for me. Between the quiet around me and the gentle swaying of the passenger car, I’m tempted to close my eyes and go back to sleep. Yawning, I lift up my arm and look at the watch on my wrist. Even though we won’t arrive in LA for a few more hours, I still have to get this day started.
